Welcome! My name is Mrs. France. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. Years ago I graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts, where I met and married my husband of 37 years. We were on the gymnastic team together. In the fall of our college years our teams loaded a single coach bus with men's and women’s gymnastic equipment and over 50 students. From Maine to Pennsylvania we toured, performing gymnastic exhibitions on Friday and Saturday nights. What fun we had! Many years later I earned my Master's Degree in Reading from The College of St. Rose here in Albany. You might catch me there still, swimming laps in their pool.
Together, my husband and I chose to raise our three children in the city of Albany because we enjoy the dynamics of city living. Currently we have six grandchildren, 17 nieces and nephews, and their numerous children creating the next generation. What fun I have during my vacations listening to tales from children about schools and events from states including, but not limited to New Hampshire, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, South Carolina, Idaho, Washington, Ohio, and New York.
This will be my 25th year teaching in Lansingburgh. Over the years I have been a member of a team of teachers who plan fourth grade trips to the Bronx Zoo, as well as a team who has started and developed the Dance Crazy after school club here at Rensselaer Park. We are here for the children, and we aim to improve our programs for them. It’s encouraging to have community support for these and so many other trips, programs, and classroom events.
Every year is a new and exciting beginning for all of us. I plan to create a classroom environment rich with books, experiments, technological innovation, listening, and learning. I trust parents will continue to read with their children every night and discuss important events. I expect students to try their best and treat each other with respect and kindness. I hope this will be the best year ever for all fourth graders at Rensselaer Park.
